Thanks for sharing this. I really loved reading it, and it sparked a whole bunch of thoughts for me (which I wrote about on my blog, so as not to hijack yours :) )

I had lots of penpals when I was younger, it was fantastic. You are so right about the stamps and the postmarks and the excitement. It makes me wonder if L might enjoy this as well.

Yeah, I miss penpals too and the stamps from faraway lands. Some years ago, you could still get email pals to write letters. I have tried writing emails to Dante, but it's quite hard to do so! Now he is claiming technology is preventing him from replying ...

Hi Jen, I still think you have the nicest handwriting out of all of us... ( mind you, that's not much of a compliment coming from a doctor)...

Believe it or not, I still handwrite letters to special people in my life, such as my wife and children, especially when I am away from them, or just on special occasions.

There is something special about the personal touch and the physicality of paper. It feels so much more permanent and real...
